چکیده
Sensitivity analysis of Fourier Transformation Spectrometer: FTS against observation noise on retrievals of carbon dioxide and methane is conducted. Through experiments with real observed data and additive noise, it is found that the allowable noise on FTS observation data is less than 2.1x10 if estimation accuracy of total column carbon dioxide and methane is better than 1(%). Keywords-FTS; carbon dioxide, methane, sensitivity analysis, error analysis.

Nadir measurements from ACE of column amounts of atmospheric gases
The feasibility of using nadir observations to make column measurements of several stratospheric gases will be evaluated for the Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment (ACE) Fourier-transform spectrometer (FTS), which is scheduled for launch in 2002 on the SCISAT-1 platform. The measurement technique is based on using FTIR spectroscopy to measure the atmospheric absorption of cold gases below the sat...

Numerical deviation based optimization method for estimation of total column CO2 measured with ground based Fourier Transformation Spectormeter: FTS data is proposed. Through experiments with aircraft based sample return data and the ground based FTS data, it is found that the proposed method is superior to the conventional method of Levenberg Marquads based nonlinear least square method with a...
متن کاملSatellite observation of atmospheric methane: intercomparison between AIRS and GOSAT TANSO-FTS retrievals
Space-borne observations of atmospheric methane (CH4) have been made using the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) on the EOS/Aqua satellite since August 2002 and the Thermal and Near-infrared Sensor for Carbon Observation Fourier Transform Spectrometer (TANSOFTS) on the Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite (GOSAT) since April 2009. This study compared the GOSAT TANSOFTS thermal infrared (TIR) ...
متن کاملA framework for comparing remotely sensed and in-situ CO2 concentrations
A framework has been developed that allows validating CO 2 column averaged volume mixing ratios (VMRs) retrieved from ground-based solar absorption measurements using Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTS) against measurements made in-situ (such as from aircrafts and tall towers). Since in-situ measurements are done frequently and at high accuracy on the global calibration scale, linking...
متن کاملUsing ocean-glint scattered sunlight as a diagnostic tool for satellite remote sensing of greenhouse gases
Spectroscopic measurements of sunlight backscattered by the Earth’s surface is a technique widely used for remote sensing of atmospheric constituent concentrations from space. Thereby, remote sensing of greenhouse gases poses particularly challenging accuracy requirements for instrumentation and retrieval algorithms which, in general, suffer from various error sources. Here, we investigate a me...
